William Francis Martin, formerly of Ridley Park, PA., passed away at Broomall Presbyterian Village on Sunday June 20, 2010. He was 90.
Son of the late John and Eleanor Kane Martin, he was born in Philadelphia in 1920. He was a lifelong resident of Ridley Park and former member of St. Madeline's Church. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's Preparatory School and St. Joseph's University. He served in the US Army during World War II and was later employed with Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton locomotive works of Eddystone, PA.
He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Carr Martin. Devoted father of Sr. Rose Martin, R.S.M. of Philadelphia, Marie DiCostanza (Joseph) of Kennett Square, and William Martin (Martha) of Rosemont. Loving brother of the late John Martin and Sr. Michael Edward Martin, S.S.J. He is also survived by 5 dear grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday June 24, 10 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel, Lancaster Ave., Rosemont, PA. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA.
