William J. "Willie" Gallagher, of Bryn Mawr, PA, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025.  He was 89.

Willie was born in Loughros Point, Ardara, Co. Donegal, Ireland. Part of a large, rural family, they worked out a living from the land. Willie was always a very busy and industrious young man. Besides farming, he spent much time fishing for salmon and worked as a weaver at the mart in the town of Ardara. Willie had a real sense of adventure and often traveled around the country and to Dublin for football games and festivals. Willie was a unique character that always walked to the beat of his own drum. With his infamous Irish wit, songs and stories, he reminded many of one of his idols, Brendan Behan.

Willie came to the US in 1961 and settled with his sister Anne in W. Philadelphia. He worked in landscaping, for the Acme, Lee Tire, Autocar Trucks, Delaware County, and Vallet Forge Military Academy. He was a real proponent for the working man and was always one to stick up for the underdog. He met Kathleen and settled on Markee Terrace in Bryn Mawr. Always one for a party, he often held court with a song or a poem of his own making. Willie will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his endless story telling.

He is survived by his sons John and Patrick, his grandchildren, Cole, Liam, Sean and Maura, his sister Roseleen, his brother Vincent and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited on Thursday June 26th, Visitation from 9:30-10:30 am, with a Funeral Mass following at 10:30 am at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 31 Pennswood Rd., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Interment is private at a later date.
