Dr. William Taylor Brandfass "Butch"

Taylor Brandfass, beloved husband of Jane (O'Kane), passed away Monday, February 15th, 2016 at their home in Villanova, PA. A cherished father to Barbara and Carolyn (Matt) and Taylor, Jr. (Staceyann), and proud grandfather of Morgan, Lizann, Carl and Alexandra Geiger. Dr. Brandfass was born in 1927 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Eleanor Taylor and Carl Brandfass. He is predeceased by his siblings, Drs. Robert and Carl Brandfass, Richard Brandfass and Eleanor

He graduated from Linsly Academy where he was a champion in pole vaulting. After a year at the US Coast Guard Academy, he received a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1952. In 1955 he was awarded a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Brandfass was an orthopedic surgeon in the Philadelphia area for more than 35 years and was a founding partner of Premier Orthopedics. He was an avid sports fan throughout his life and enjoyed his role as a team physician to both The Philadelphia Flyers during the Broad Street Bullies era and The Philadelphia Wings Lacrosse Team. He was an active member of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church before converting to Catholicism in 2010. Dr. Brandfass devoted much of his retirement years to charity work with the Philadelphia Literacy Program, Habitat for Humanity, the Bethesda-Bainbridge Project, Feeding the Homeless, Interfaith Hospital Network and the Christian Eastside Ministry Tutoring Programs. He was a member of The Philadelphia Country Club, Waynesborough Country Club, The Wayfair Club and The Orpheus Club of Philadelphia. The Brandfass family would like to express their deepest thanks for the beautiful spirit and loving care of Ms. Leah Kihunyu.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday February 19, 10:30 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster & Aberdeen Aves., Wayne, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Church after 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
