Obituary

William J. "Bill"  Bland passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.  Born in Steubenville, Ohio on August 30, 1941 Bill soon moved to Delaware County Pennsylvania where he resided for the rest of his life.  He attended Aronimink Elementary School and Upper Darby High School Class of 1960.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Arbuckle), twin sons Bill and John Bland and his sister, Pam Prendiville (Chuck).

Bill served in the US Army in Germany.  He played on the Army traveling basketball team and was an MP.  He worked as a Sales Representative for several companies in the Philadelphia and Delaware County areas.  He also worked part-time for several funeral homes.

Bill enjoyed many summers in Ocean City, New Jersey where he loved the beach, the Ocean City Pops concerts and just relaxing and talking with neighbors.

One day someone gave him a whistle and a striped shirt and for many years after that he enjoyed refereeing high school and college basketball. He enjoyed watching and participating in various sports throughout his life and was an avid coin collector.  He also loved traveling which included several cruises, many trips to Disney parks and his time shares in St. Thomas and Maui.

Bill will always be remembered for his generosity, his love of people and of course his story telling.
