Virginia Emmert Leo, age 99, passed away on January 30, 2009. She was born in Mapleville, MD., graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1927, and received a degree in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA in 1931. Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Clarence V. Leo. For the past 20 years, she lived at The Quadrangle in Haverford, PA. While living in Hagerstown, MD., she was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Fountain Head Country Club where she was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Virginia loved her golf, bowling, playing bridge, gardening, reading and cooking.
Virginia was an exceptionally loving and caring person. She is survived by her two children, Katherine E. Mullen of Villanova, PA. and Andrew B. Leo of Holly Springs, NC. She enjoyed the affection and devotion of 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who called her "Nana". Fortunately, she enjoyed excellent health until the final 4 months of her life.
At her request, there will be no services held. Her ashes will be interred along side her husband in Hagerstown, MD.
