Vincent D.
Volpi
September 3, 1936 – January 24, 2023
Vincent D. Volpi passed away on January 24, 2023, at his home in Wayne, PA. He was 86.
Son of the late Vincenzo Volpi and Antonetta Marcozzi Volpi, Vince was born in Philadelphia on September 3, 1936.
Vincent was the beloved husband of Susan Volpi (nee Gross). Devoted father of Karen Neville, Colleen Ryan (John), Matthew Volpi (Ana) and the late Vincent D. "Danny" Volpi, Jr. Loving grandfather of Madison, Alyssa, Avery, Justin, Naomi, Natalie, Aviva and Jayda. Great grandfather of Anastasia and Dominic. He was the dear brother of Olga Volpi and the late Camille Volpi and Rose Belsito.
From extremely humble beginnings, after graduating from Lower Merion High School, Vincent parlayed his service and training in the US Naval Construction Battalion (otherwise known as the Seabees) into his lifelong entrepreneurial endeavor as the owner of Volpi's Cynwyd Sunoco. He became a neighborhood fixture for generations of loyal customers, one of whom eventually became the love of his life.
Vince loved football (even playing semi-professionally for a few bucks and a case of beer), motorcycles (which he continued riding into his 70s), making wine (infamous for not producing any headaches or hangovers), and gardening (no one could beat his tomatoes). But most of all he loved family, whether it was by blood or you simply got sucked into his orbit. His innate curiosity about all things and his drive to help and support anyone he cared about had no bounds.
Vince was unforgettable. He made connections with people from all walks of life in all sorts of settings. His charm and enthusiasm and warmth was irresistible to anyone he crossed paths with. Always ready with a favor or advice or a friendly ear, wanting nothing more in return than to know how things went and make sure everyone's doing alright.
