Thomas A. Kenny ,died peacefully with his family on January 22, 2014 in Jupiter FL. He was 83.
Tom grew up in South Philadelphia and attended Central High. He was a Senatorial
Scholar at The University of Pennsylvania and graduated from The
Wharton School of Business in 1953 . He was Lieutenant Jr Grade in the
US Coast Guard stationed in Charleston from 1954-1956.
Tom was a fifty year Wall Street veteran from 1956-2006. His investment banking career
began with a position in corporate finance at Eastman Dillon after which he established a partnership with Disque Dean at Lazard Freres in 1964, leaving in 1968 to form a division at Kuhn Loeb called Newcourt Securities where he played a key role during New York City's near bankruptcy and for which he was praised by then Governor Hugh Carey. In 1978, he created KL Associates , a venture capital firm with his colleague John Libby.
Tom was a Board member of Daybrook Fisheries, Inc , served as trustee
on numerous non-profit boards including the Marymount School of NY and
the University Club, where he served as Chairman of the Finance
Committee during it's financial restoration.
Tom was an avid golfer and squash player and a 50 year member of the
University Club of New York and The Quogue Field Club.
He is survived by his wife Ardith, daughter Pamela and two grandchildren
Katherine and Emma and his two nieces Karen and Maureen Kenny.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday January 31, 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Church, 380 Highland Ln. Bryn Mawr, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Church from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
