Obituary

Theodore L. Reimel, Jr.- Advertising Executive

Theodore L. Reimel, Jr. "Ted" passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 26, 2018 in Conshohocken, PA. after a short illness at the age of 88.

Ted was born in Philadelphia to Josephine and the Honorable Theodore L. Reimel. He attended Melrose Academy, Germantown Academy, and Villanova University where he graduated with a BS in Economics.

For many years Ted was Philadelphia's answer to Don Draper. He started T.L. Reimel Advertising in 1962 in Philadelphia's Suburban Station Building and his accounts were concentrated on anything and everything related to having fun in Philadelphia. In the 1970's he and Ed Carter partnered to create Reimel Carter Advertising located in the Academy House in Philadelphia. He enjoyed every minute of it, mentored many of Philadelphia's finest Ad men, and retired in 2000. Prior he was the Promotion Direct at Weightman, Inc., the Advertising Director of the Philadelphia Daily News, and Regional Sales Manager for Mrs. Paul's Frozen Seafood.

Ted was the proud successor to The Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition at the Villanova School of Law, which is an annual intra-school tournament and a hallowed tradition at Villanova Law. Named in honor of the late Theodore L. Reimel, Judge for the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, the competition is designed to foster student development in written and oral advocacy through simulated appellate argument. Many alumni and other esteemed members of the legal community come to the law school to judge the oral arguments and Ted was proud to attend every year.

Ted was a longstanding and proud member of the Philadelphia Country Club, where he spent most days of his retirement playing golf with his beloved Raiders, working out in the fitness center and enjoying camaraderie and banter with fellow members and staff.
Ted was full of life and, prior to his illness, enjoyed perfect days. He enjoyed his work, his retirement and mainly the company of family and friends. He was never happier than when there was an event on his calendar whether big or small. His personality filled a room and he always had fun. His sense of humor was legendary, and his witticisms were always punctuated with: "What are you laughing at?" as he pretended he didn't know he was funny.

Ted is predeceased by his parents Josephine and the Honorable Theodore L. Reimel, his brother David J. Reimel and his wife Mary Querida "MQ" Wolfington Mita Reimel. He is survived by many who loved him including JoAnne Reimel McMonigle, Theodore L. Reimel, III, Terry Reimel Perrotta, Cathy Reimel Hamilton, Mary Jane Reimel Nunes, Patty Reimel Smith, MQ Mita Dwyer, and 23 Grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren and former spouse Anne McCloskey Reimel.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday May 2, 11:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N Providence Rd, Media, PA 19063. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Church from 9:30 to 11:30 am.  Interment will be private for the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to Reimel Moot Court and sent to Villanova University School of Law, Reimel Moot Court Board, 299 N. Spring Mill Rd., Villanova, PA 19085.
