Sandra Ann
Bove
October 10, 1944 – September 11, 2023
Sandra Ann ("Sandy") Bove (nee Seltzer) of Wynnewood, PA died on September 11, 2023 at age 78 from complications of non-small cell carcinoma. Sandy was born in the borough of Weissport, PA to James and Margaret (Wentz) Seltzer. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Alfred Anthony Bove; devoted mother of Jacqueline Marie Bove (Gregory Graeber), Andrew James Bove (Kate Youngah Suk) and the late Christopher Alfred Bove; loving grandmother of Sebastian Jon Chambers, Sophia Alexandra Graeber and Clara Christina Bove; and dear sister of Joan Reinheimer (Harold) and the late William Seltzer (late Barbara).
Sandy will be remembered as a surpassingly kind, selfless and energetic woman with a boundless devotion to her family, friends, and Catholic faith. Her cheerfulness, sincerity, quiet strength and smiling nature saw her through life's ups and downs and made her loved and admired. She always remained close with the friends and neighbors she got to know along the way. In her later years Sandy loved to visit and spend time with her grandchildren and take them on outings to the Morris Arboretum, Chanticleer and other beautiful places. She enjoyed life's pleasures, especially seafood with a nice glass of white wine, but was filled with a sense of purpose and involved in many different groups and organizations throughout her life. She took particular pride and pleasure in her work as an organizer of the annual Philadelphia Heart Ball for the American Heart Association.
As a child Sandy was active in the local 4-H and enjoyed ice skating on the Lehigh Canal across the street from her family home. After high school she moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1965. She began her nursing career in the Labor and Delivery unit at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York before returning to Temple and marrying Fred, her beloved husband of 53 years, whom she met working in the Temple emergency room when both were students. She later worked for many years at Lankenau Hospital. When the family moved to Minnesota for several years in the 1980s, Sandy began a second career as a travel agent, partnering with her husband to lead annual undersea medical education and diving trips to the Caribbean and beyond and eventually building her own business. She loved to travel and plan adventures all over the world, was an avid scuba diver and gardener, and enjoyed hikes in the Colorado mountains and walks with friends on the Haverford College Nature Trail. She celebrated her 76th birthday while hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain with her daughter, Jackie, in 2021.
