Robert "Bob" Alexander Strehl, 36, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023 surrounded by his
loving wife and family.
Bob was born on May 17, 1986 in Yokosuka, Japan, to Robert L. Strehl and Kathleen A. (Campbell)
Strehl. He grew up in Mattawan, Michigan and graduated from Mattawan High School with the class of
2004. The following fall, he enrolled at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. During 2007, he
studied at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia. After completion of his studies
abroad, he returned to WMU where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 2009. It was at
WMU where he met the love of his life, Laura Somerville.
Immediately following graduation, he began his career in Washington D.C. as an auditor for the
Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoDIG). In November 2012, Bob and Laura were
married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Soon after, they moved to Kailua, Hawaii where Bob continued to
travel globally auditing DoD programs and facilities. In 2018, Bob and Laura moved to Bryn Mawr,
Pennsylvania where Bob earned his CPA certification through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In
2019, he transitioned to The U.S. Department of The Treasury. During their time in Pennsylvania, Bob
and Laura welcomed two beautiful daughters into their lives, Vivian June (4) and Olivia Summer (2).
Bob had a caring soul, his sense of humor and quick wit were infectious, people of all ages and
backgrounds were naturally drawn to him which developed into a myriad of meaningful friendships
around the world. He enjoyed golf, music, gaming, traveling, sports, and spending time with his family
and friends, but his greatest passion in life was loving Laura and being a father to his daughters.
In addition to Laura, Vivian June, Olivia Summer, and their dog Lucy, Bob is survived by his father, Robert
Strehl, mother Kathleen Strehl, brother Ryan (Ashley), sister Kaitlyn (Jacob) Buback; nieces Harper, Ellie,
Nicole and nephews Zach and Leo and many loving aunts and uncles.
The viewing will be held on Sunday, February 19th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at McConaghy Funeral Home,
328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, February 20 at 10:30 am at St.
Thomas of Villanova Church (Univ. Campus), 800 Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA. Internment will be private.
