Obituary

RICHARD H. WALSH, of Bryn Mawr, PA., passed away on January 26, 2014 at Lankenau Hospital. He was 77.

Son of the late Herbert A. and Helen Strutko Walsh, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 17, 1937. He was the beloved husband of Elaine M. Walsh (nee Harley) for nearly fifty years. Devoted father of Kimberly Mehr (Erik), Linda Rupli (Tim), John Patrick Walsh (Ashley) and Tara Karbiner (Mark). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and his brothers Thomas (Joan) and Joseph (Renee) Walsh.

Mr. Walsh grew up on Long Island, joining the Army following his High School graduation, where he served as a paratrooper. After graduating from Villanova University's Business School in 1960, he joined Haskins & Sells in New York, a predecessor company of Deloitte Touche, the big 4 Accounting Firm. A registered CPA, he moved to the Main Line permanently upon taking a position as Controller for a Philadelphia based regional Real Estate firm in the late 1960s. Mr. Walsh later started his own firm, Walsh Construction, a builder of single-family custom and speck homes.

An avid golfer and tennis player, Richard was a member of the Radnor Racquet Club, The Main Line Homebuilders Association, and other local and civic organizations. His life's passion was the development of his children and grandchildren who will miss his wisdom and support.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 1, 10 AM at St. Colman Church, Lancaster Ave. & Argyle Rd., Ardmore, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Church beginning at 9 AM. Interment will be private.
