Richard J. "Dick" Randolph died on December 2, 2014 in Philadelphia near his home of 40 years in Malvern, PA. He was 83. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Pace Randolph, his daughter, Susan Passante (Joseph), and son, Stephen Randolph (Soon) and their families. Born in Columbus, OH on October 23, 1931 to the late John and Clara Randolph, he was the youngest of three children, which includes John F. "Jack" Randolph and the late Mary Louise Waldron.
Dick was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and he was a Licensed Professional Engineer. He spent his entire career with the General Electric Corporation working in its Re-entry and Space Division. He worked on many cold war projects, which helped keep our country safe following the end of the Second World War. His career with GE afforded him the opportunity to move throughout the country from Cincinnati, OH to Cheyenne, WY to Philadelphia, PA to Dayton, OH before settling on the east coast in Malvern, PA.
He was a veteran of the Armed Forces, serving as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, VA where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. A member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Dick was active in the Philadelphia Chapter's Color Guard where he proudly carried the U.S. Flag during remembrances of Washington's Birthday at Independence National Historical Park. He also served in the role of George Washington in Memorial Day Parades in Wayne, PA.
Dick was a devout Catholic and longtime member of SS. Phillip & James Parish in Exton, PA. He was an avid photographer dating back to his high school days, experimenting with multiple exposures on the same negative featuring himself as the subject. He was also a dedicated bridge player who participated in and organized duplicate bridge events in Malvern.
Dick suffered from Parkinson's Disease during the latter third of his life. However, he never let his illness get in the way of his living life. He was a fun-loving, warm man who was generous to friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 9, 11 AM at St. Margaret Church, 208 N. Narberth Ave., Narberth, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Church from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Joseph Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
