Richard P. Cancelmo, M.D.'s Obituary
Richard P. Cancelmo, M.D., of Bryn Mawr, PA, passed away on March 9, 2015 at The Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was 85.
Dr. Cancelmo was born in Philadelphia on December 30, 1929 to the late Philadelphia Surgeon J. James Cancelmo & Mary Cunningham Cancelmo. Dr. Cancelmo grew up in Lower Merion. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1951, and then The University of Pennsylvania Medical school in 1954. Dr. Cancelmo spent 2 years stationed at the U.S Army's 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt Germany studying diagnostic radiology followed by a residency then a 35 year Radiology career at the Bryn Mawr Hospital, retiring as the Chief of Radiology.
He was preceded in death by his three older brothers Edmund P. Cancelmo, John B. Cancelmo & J. James Cancelmo.
Dr. Cancelmo is survived by his wife of 60 years Margaret Ruth "Peggy" Cancelmo (nee Denney); four children, Cathy (Dave), Richard, Jr., (Martha), Denney (Kristi) & Tom (Chrissy); and seven grandchildren, Katherine Denney Cancelmo, Richard Peter Cancelmo, III., Cara C. Cancelmo, Mary Margaret Cancelmo, Kelly Anne Cancelmo, Thomas C. Cancelmo Jr., & John Cancelmo Molchan.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday March 13, 11 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster & Aberdeen Aves., Wayne, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a Viewing at the Church from 9:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
