Obituary

Raymond J. Murphy,"Murph", of Bryn Mawr, formerly of Narberth, PA., passed away on May 20, 2008 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was 69.

Son of the late Hugh J. and Margaret Devine Murphy, he was born in Narberth, PA in 1939. He was a graduate of Lower Merion High School where he was a standout basketball player for the Aces. He served in the U.S. Army following high school. Following his military service, he worked as an E.M.T. for the Narberth Ambulance Corp. and also volunteered his time as a fireman. He became a Lower Merion Police Officer on May 1, 1963 and after 28 years of service retired from the force on May 18, 1991.

He was the devoted father of Julia A. Murphy (Theodore C. Schmidt) and Stephanie L. Murphy. Loving brother of William Murphy (Lydia) and the late Hugh Murphy, Mary Theresa Malloy, Marjorie Lucas, Catherine Murphy and Josephine Taylor. He is also survived by his companion of 17 years Kathleen C. Monahan.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 27, 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Church, 210 N. Narberth Ave., Narberth, PA. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 9:30 AM. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Phila. PA 19103.
