Obituary

FISHER.
Raymond A, Jr. of Shannondell passed away on Saturday, July 23 at 88 years old. Beloved husband of Madeleine L. Fisher and father of Scott, of Mahopac, NY and Ann of Chester, IL. Ray Fisher was born in Uniontown, PA to Wanda and Raymond A. Fisher, Sr. on August 10, 1922. He moved to the Pittsburgh suburb of Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School where he played on the football team. He attended what is now Carnegie Mellon University where his father was professor or Architecture and majored in graphic design.

During World War II Ray joined ROTC and, in 1945, his whole unit was inducted into the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was stationed in the Pacific and North Africa and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1946.

In 1946 he married Dorothy Hambly Ellen and went back to Carnegie Mellon where he earned a BFA in Graphic Design and then a BS in Printing Management. He worked for Herbick and Held printing company in Pittsburgh where he was Art Director. He directed the designs for all the programs and yearbooks for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates, for Allegheny College, for a number of other corporations and was art director for the original edition of "Pittsburgh: The Story of an American City" by Stefan Laurent.

Ray became a widower in 1974 and on January 7, 1984 he remarried Madeleine Lament and moved to Wayne, PA after his retirement. They subsequently moved into the Shannondell retirement community.

He is survived by his wife, Madeleine, his 2 children, his 3 stepchildren James and Charles Lament and Annette Banulski, 4 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service Wed. July 27, 11:30 AM at The Ashcroft Movie Theater of Shannondell in Audubon, PA.
