MACHTELD JOHANNA MELLINK, Ph.D., AGE 88, on FEBRUARY 23, 2006- at The Quadrangle in Haverford, PA. Renowned professor of Near Eastern Archaeology at Bryn Mawr College, where she was Chair of the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology for 28 years. Her birthplace and education were in the Netherlands at the University of Amsterdam, receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Utrecht. She is survived by her sister Dr. Hanni Pel and many nieces and nephews all of Holland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Institute in Turkey or to the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology at Bryn Mawr College. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
