Obituary

Polly Louise McCormick (nee Andriole) passed away on April 29, 2020 at Saunders House in Wynnewood, PA. She was 97.

Daughter of the late Frank and Carmela DiCrescenza Andriole, Polly was born on March 25, 1923 in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Polly was the beloved wife of the late Earl Robert McCormick. Devoted mother of Robert Earl McCormick (MaryAnn) and Gary Michael McCormick (Beth). Loving grandmother of Caitlin Baldwin (Adam), Matt McCormick (Courtney), Colleen Stewart (Patrick) and Brian McCormick. Dear great-grandmother of Seamus, Colin & Declan McCormick; Olivia & Charlotte Baldwin; and Laurel & Reegan Stewart. She was predeceased by her 12 siblings.

Polly is best described by memories of her grandchildren.

"For the first (20) years of my life, Grandmom came to my house every week. She was more than a sitter; she was one of my best friends and someone you could always count on. She loved cooking for me, helped me with gardening, was always full of energy, had a wonderful sense of humor, and told stories about her earlier life. Grandmom also loved a good joke and never had an unkind word about anyone. She went with me to Disney World, one of my favorite vacations ever. I will truly miss her."
Love,
Brian (Grandson)

"Everyone that met Grandmom loved her. She greeted everyone she met with a smile and her contagious laugh. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was so kind, loving and sweet to everyone she knew. But she always knew to put us in our place if we needed it.

Growing up, she came on all our family vacations and I have so many great memories to remember her by.
The King of Prussia mall will forever remind me of her. She would take Katie (my sister) and I shopping there once a year for school clothes. She could walk longer than we could!
She always made the best cookies and Italian food. I was too picky to eat it, so she would remember to make me my own personal angel hair and butter (boring).

She loved the outdoors and her garden. It was always so beautiful and calming to sit outside her home and enjoy the outdoors. I hope to have inherited some of her green thumb.

I feel so grateful I got 34 wonderful years with her and she got to meet my husband (Pat), Laurel (daughter) and son (Reegan). I know she will be watching over all of us during this scary time."
Love,
Colleen (Granddaughter)

"I miss Grandmom. And to be honest, I have missed her for quite some time. I miss the Grandmom I knew growing up. We all do.

She was a rock for many of us in uncertain times. She was there to listen, love us and be positive. She was an incredibly important person in my life and in the lives of everyone in our family. She is missed greatly.

Grandmom embodied, well, a Grandmom. She was sweet and kind and loving. She did not yell or dictate directions (except when setting the table), she asked politely, she sometimes let silence speak for itself, she listened and she was there for you when you needed her. Simply put, she led by example. She did not tell us how to act, she showed us how to act. From never saying a negative word about her recently ex-daughter in law to her grandchildren, to embracing her other daughter in law as the daughter she did not have, to caring for her grandchildren like they were her own children, she led by example. And the very few times she did speak up, boy did you listen. To us grandkids, Grandmom was a constant example of the type of person you wanted to have in your life and who you wanted to be like. She made us better people by being a better person. This is why we are grieving. This is also why we are experiencing such an outpouring of love and support during this time.

Grandmom also loved to cook and host family celebrations. To laugh and bicker with her sister. To sit and chat with family members and longtime neighbors. To smile. I feel very blessed she is was in my life.

I would like to speak on behalf of many family members when I say that it hurts us deeply that we cannot be there in person to say goodbye. We wish we could be together to celebrate a woman we loved so dearly, and who meant a lot to us, but these are the times we live in. Grandmom will be profoundly missed by everyone in our family, but she is now in a better place. And even though she is gone, her impact on our lives and the people we've become will endure."
Love,
Matt (Grandson)

My Grandmom, Polly McCormick, was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed by many. I can still picture her smiling face, warm smile and loving embrace.
Grandmom loved cooking and having family and friends over for a big Italian dinner and everyone was more than happy to visit!

"She truly cared about people and everyone who met her will tell you how much they loved her. I have so many wonderful memories of my time spent with Grandmom and am blessed for all the special moments that we shared. May you find peace and familiar faces in Heaven. I love you, Grandmom!"
Love,
Katie (Granddaughter)
