Obituary

Philip M. Mairs passed away peacefully April 3, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.

Phil attended Haverford High School, graduating in 1961, and then went on to West Virginia University, where he earned his degree in communication (1966). He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 4 years.

After several sales positions Phil worked at Rosemont and Bryn Mawr Colleges as a security officer and during that time he also worked part time at Villanova University in the library and at special athletic events.While at Bryn Mawr College he was the announcer for the girls basketball game which he loved tremendously for 10 years.

Phil was a avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies. He coached all four of his sons' Little League teams, instilling in them his love of the game.

Phil is survived by his wife of 44 years, Catharine (nee Owsik), four boys, Christopher (Sarah), Daniel, Brian and Kevin (Elizabeth) Mairs, his grandson Desmond Mairs, his brother, Thomas (Eileen) Mairs and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents John and Martha Mairs and his sister Phyllis Mairs Scharf.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Friday September 18, 11:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.

Donations can be made in Phil's name to the American Cancer Society.
