Obituary

Peter Beckett Pakradooni, age 75, of Wynnewood, PA., passed away on February 4, 2015. He was a graduate of The Episcopal Academy (1957) and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School (1961). He served in the US Army in Army Intelligence as 1st Lieutenant from 1961-1974. After the Army, he worked in the family business at International Printing with his uncles Aram and Dikran, his cousin Lloyd and his father Haig H. Pakradooni Jr. The business was started by his grandfather Haig H. Pakradooni Sr. in Old City, Philadelphia where he also served as the Persian Consul for Philadelphia. The family business was closed in 1983 and Peter went on to Packard Press and subsequently Smith-Edwards-Dunlap where he was Executive Vice President until his death. His specialty was printing class action lawsuits, working on such cases as diet drug, credit card and airline litigation. He was also the co-owner of two copy centers in Philadelphia for twenty years, The Copy Center Inc.

His volunteer work included being an advisor to the Sigma Chapter of Zeta Psi at the University of Pennsylvania, and he was a past Phi Alpha of Zeta Psi Fraternity of North America. At Penn, he was the President of the Interfraternity Alumni Council from 1981-1996. For his work, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Penn for Outstanding Service & Dedication to Greek Life. Additionally, he received the Distinguished Service Award and the James G. McLaughlin Interfraternity Service Award from Zeta Psi Fraternity of North America. Greg McElroy, also a past president of Zeta Psi, who worked with Peter for 45 years said, "No one has ever done more for Zeta Psi at the University of Pennsylvania than Peter."

Peter was also a member of several organizations. He was an active member of the Color Guard of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution. He was a fifty-year member of the Union League of Philadelphia and a founding member of the Graduate Table within the League. In addition to the Union League, he was also a member of several private clubs in Philadelphia and the suburbs including; The Pyramid Club, The Vesper Club, and The Overbrook Golf Club. He was a member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church for over 30 years.
Peter and his wife, Regina, enjoyed the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Philadelphia Art Museum, New York theater and traveling internationally with their daughter Danielle. Peter enjoyed weekends in the Pennsylvania Poconos at Skytop with friends and family. He was a great cook, photographer, fisherman, trap shooter, magician, woodworker, raconteur, and pilot. At the age of 20, he successfully crash landed a Piper Comanche at the North Philadelphia Airport, with a couple and their child aboard when their landing gear malfunctioned. His mother was at home and heard the story on the radio as people rushed to the airport to see the crash.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Regina Haley Pakradooni, his daughter Danielle Beckett Pakradooni, his brother Haig H. Pakradooni III, and his beloved nephews, cousins and extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation Friday February 13, from 9:30 to 11 AM with Funeral Service to begin at 11 AM in The Sanctuary at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Interment will be private
