On Sunday, December 22, 2019, Peter E. Moskowitz of Belmont Hills, PA devoted husband of Kim, b rother to Donald and sister , Martha Marie , passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 75.
Peter was born on September 30, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA to Peter and Martha (nee Shaw).
He s er ved in the Army from 1961 through December 1967.
Peter's passions included travel, art, nature and learning. Free-spirited and always adventurous, his wanderlust led him to summer in Alaska for many years before moving there with his wife, Kim, from 1990-1995. Numerous other travel s included Africa, Russia, Hawaii, the Caribbean and many places in the continental United States.
He loved the outdoors. In Alaska , Peter often could be found k ayaking with glaciers and whales , white water rafting, skydiving, ballooning, camping and fishing for salmon. Sailing on Scotty Ann around the Cape of South Africa with Moe Dey and his best friend, Don Logan took him on Safari and fuel e d his affection for the people he met along the way and the unique culture of Africa.
His appreciation for art and music lead to his eclectic collection of art and craft from Russia, Africa, and Alaska. He was a great supporter of local artists often commissioning works and purchasing creative works that spoke to him. Music fueled his dancing feet. He was especially fond of jazz, R&B, romantic ballads and songs with a funky beat.
Being in nature inspired his curiosity of natural phenomena and all things beautiful . A trip to Hawaii in the summer of 1996 further broadened his interest in nature, which resulted in his collecting, growing and flowering orchids. While just a hobby, Peter was a skilled orchidist and miraculously twelve to fifteen of his orchids are all blossoming and about to blossom any day now.
Peter's curiosity for learning was nourished by his insatiable desire to read. His interests were diverse and included art, history, navigation, explorers, and erotica. Peter enthusiastically shared this knowledge and was a skilled Raconteur enjoyed by all.
