Obituary

Paul Glesinger, Jr. passed away at his residence in Bryn Mawr, PA, at the age of 70.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, a story in itself, Paul was the son of Paul and Lillian Glesinger, big brother of Cathryn (Glesinger) Kohlman.

After his unusual birthplace for the son of an American mother and European father, his parents moved to NYC, New York, when he was a baby.    He grew up in Queens, NY, until the age of 13, when his father was transferred to Philadelphia.   He then grew up in Villanova, PA, graduated from Malvern Prep and Villanova University, then generally remained in the Main Line area.

Paul retired recently after a successful career, largely in banking and finance.   He was a financial advisor in several large firms, including Prudential-Bache, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Wells Fargo and most recently, Ameriprise, including positions as 2 nd Vice President at a couple of them.

Paul was heavily involved for many years with what's now called Youth Mentoring Partnership, out of the Upper Main Line Y and later West Philadelphia, acting in a mentor/big brother role one-on-one to many teens over the years.   He stayed in touch with several of them.   He also volunteered at various events at his alma mater Malvern Prep.

Paul was known by all for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, kindness, generosity and being a true gentleman.     He enjoyed meeting and engaging with people of all backgrounds and ages and treated everyone with dignity and respect.  He was sincerely interested in peoples' lives and they knew it.   On his side, he was a great storyteller on family history, could make us laugh 'till we cried about something as simple as eating TV Dinners.   He was passionate about Villanova Wildcats (basketball team), the Eagles, current events, the economy/stock market and politics.     On the last item, he prided himself on listening to both sides of issues on programming/podcasts and would happily debate anyone, if the person used facts and not emotion or fake news.   He also liked watching movies, and Star Trek and Mission Impossible reruns (the original tv series).

Paul was a loving brother to his sister, Cathy, brother-in-law to Edward Kohlman, Jr., uncle to Jessica Pell (and her husband Philip Pell), and Samantha Kohlman, and great-uncle to Lukas, Shelby, Ruby and Greyson.  Per his sister, he may not have been a perfect person, but he was the perfect big brother, acting as a protector, confidant, her biggest cheerleader and the person who could always make her laugh.    He loved hanging out with and teasing his nieces and very young great-nephews/nieces, and they loved it, too.   His family is devastated by his loss but have so many incredible memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Youth Mentoring Partnership",  youthmp.org or YMP HQ,  967 E. Swedesford Rd., Suite 401, Exton, PA 19341.
