Patrick J. Gallagher, Jr. passed away on Saturday August 4, 2007 at his residence in Narberth, PA. He was 86.
Son of the late Patrick J. and Margaret Gavigan Gallagher, he was born in Philadelphia in 1921. Patrick was a man of service to family, community, and church. He and his twin brother, Francis, from Bala Cynwyd married sisters, Margaret and Ann McKee, from Ardmore. They had a double wedding and have lived together in Narberth for 60 years. Patrick and Francis ran the Gallagher Taxi and Limousine service until their retirement. Patrick was a volunteer fireman for 65 years with the Union Fire Association of Bala Cynwyd. He served as an officer for 20 years, 5 years as a Lieutenant and 15 years as a Captain. Patrick responded to over 7,500 fire calls. His daughter, Ann, is a Missionary Servant of the Most Blessed Trinity. He coordinated two fundraisers for this religious order - The Gallagher Fair of 25 years and The Gallagher Beef and Beer of 8 years. He was a member of St. Margaret's Parish and volunteered his services whenever possible. Even with doing all the above, his family was his life, and he was always there for them. Patrick will be deeply missed by all.
Patrick was the beloved husband of Margaret T. Gallagher (nee McKee). Devoted father of Sr. Ann Miriam Gallagher, M.S.B.T., Patrick J., III. (Patricia), Catherine F. Malatack (James Jeffrey), Margaret M. Nelson (Glenn), Elizabeth A. Falcone (Anthony) and Anthony J. (Beth). Loving brother of Francis J. Gallagher (Anne). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday August 9, 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Church, 210 N. Narberth Ave., Narberth, PA. Interment will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM or Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA.
