Patricia A.
Herbison
July 13, 1941 – February 14, 2021
Patricia Herbison (née Patterson), of Villanova, PA, died on February 14, 2021, at the age of 79. She died at home, and in the weeks prior to her death, she was surrounded by her loving family.
Patty was the daughter of the late Russell and Geraldine Patterson and sister to Richard Patterson. She was born on July 13, 1941, in Ithaca, New York. Patty graduated from Ithaca College in 1963 with a B.S. in physical therapy, and began her career at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center. During this time, she met her future husband, Gerry, and they were married in 1965.
Patty was the beloved wife of Dr. Gerald Herbison for 55 years and mother of Gerry (Peg), Laurie Thomas (Trip), Kathy Kuduk (Scott), Pat (Rebecca), and Matt (Holly). Her children and thirteen grandchildren (Devan, Molly, Mike, Killian, John, Jack, Elizabeth, Maclan, Than, Audra, Maura, Gwyn, and James) were part of her everyday life.
Since the early 1970s, the family has celebrated "Pizza Night" every Saturday. It has been an opportunity for the family to stay in touch, for spouses to become part of the family and part of each other's lives, and for the 13 grandkids to grow up as friends. To this day, all five of Patty and Gerry's children live within thirty minutes and Pizza Night includes as many as 25 raucous and loving people. Outside of her devotion to family, Patty volunteered in the community and had a wide circle of friends.
The Viewing and Funeral Mass for family will be held on February 18, at 9:30 am at St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel, 1229 East Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken. For those who wish to take part virtually, the Mass will be livestreamed 10 am on February 18 at: https://masslivestream.com/churches/stthomasvillanova
