Patricia Ann
Coyle
September 24, 1944 – March 17, 2021
Patricia Coyle, 76, died in the early hours of St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2021, with her daughter by her side. She faced numerous health issues for many years and did so the way she lived life: with determination, courage, compassion, and humor. As a mother, her love was powerful and ever-present. As a grandmother, her love sparkled in the delight and joy of each of her grandchildren. As a therapist, she worked in multiple settings, including the Shirley Frank Foundation, the United Technologies Employee Assistance Program, and the South Bay Correctional Facility. She also offered support, kindness, and laughter to people wherever she met them: in the middle of a city, on a beach, in a hospital, or in her home. She had a rare ability to equalize power imbalances with grace and ease, including meeting people with nonjudgment, dignity, respect, and compassionate humor. It was simply the way she walked through the world, and it positively influenced the lives of countless people.
She is survived by her daughter, children-in-law, and Godson: Malitta Engstrom, David Dickson, Kate Borrelli, and Drew Wallace; and by five adored grandchildren: Emma, Madeline, Sarah, AJ, and Grace. We are grateful for her inspirational legacy of strength, courage, humor, and love and for the warmth and care she received from many health service providers.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 29, 2021, at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania; visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Howard Arnold Student Sustainability Fund, which provides emergency funds to students at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice ( https://giving.apps.upenn.edu/fund?program=SSW&fund=603517 ), or to the social service agency of your choice.
