Nettie C. Burrell, of Ardmore, PA., one of twelve children born to Eddie and Mildred Hundley on February 24, 1925 in Butylo, VA, passed away on April 28, 2010 after a long illness. Nettie was widowed after 52 years of marriage to Roger Burrell.

After being raised and educated in Middlesex County, VA., Nettie moved to Ardmore, PA and became companion and nanny to Merry O'Donnell and family until her retirement.

As an active member of the Memorial Church of God in Christ, Nettie served as treasurer for several years. She enjoyed gospel music and loved helping people whenever possible.

She was known for her beautiful smile, friendliness, honesty, and sense of humor. Nettie loved dressing up and lived life to its fullest.

Nettie was deeply loved and will always be cherished by her six children: Mary E. Hodges (Nelson), Jamaica, VA; Roger E. Burrell (Jean), Yeadon, PA; Mildred L. Ellis, Fort Washington, MD; William L. Burrell (Bernice), Lansdowne, PA; Carrie Diane Zerbe (Thomas), Berwyn, PA; and Barbara Burrell, Lansdowne, PA. She also leaves behind two sisters: Adelaide Hundley, Locust Hill, VA and Carrie Hundley, Berwyn, PA. Nettie will also be missed by 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends like Merry O'Donnell and family. We are grateful and thankful!


A viewing will be held Monday May 3, from 7 to 9 PM at the McConaghy Funeral Home, Ardmore, PA. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday May 4, 11:00 AM at Memorial Church of God in Christ, Haverford, PA. Interment will be at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.
