Michael J. McGee, Jr., of Bryn Mawr, PA., passed away on October 15, 2026 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was 64.
Born on December 6, 1961 in Bryn Mawr, PA, Mike was the son of Michael J. McGee, Sr. and Sarah Anne Conaghan McGee who both predeceased him.
Mike was the beloved husband of Laurie A. McGee (nee Corrigan). Devoted father of Colleen L. Owsik (Mike), Michael J. McGee, III., and Kevin J. McGee. He was the dear brother of Thomas McGee (Sheila), Claudine Ann Bounds (Brian), Madeline McGee and the late John F. K. McGee (Ro).
Mike was a man with a kind heart, a strong work ethic, and a loyalty to the people he loved that never wavered. He was the kind of man who would put others before himself, always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply be there when someone needed him. To know him was to know a true friend, and to love him was to have a place in your heart that could never be filled by anyone else.
Above all, he was the best friend anyone could ask for. He was loyal, patient, and generous with his time, always willing to teach others what he knew. Whether through his work, his guidance, or the countless stories he shared, he had a way of leaving an impression on those around him.
He was a natural storyteller, bringing moments to life with his words and giving those listening memories they would carry with them for years to come. We will always remember his McGee-isms, and how even the simplest story became unforgettable when he told it.
A true outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and trapping. Many of his favorite memories were made with his Long Riders and ELR crews. He taught us to be patient, pay attention, and appreciate the quiet beauty around us.
He worked hard throughout his life, never shying away from responsibility and always doing what needed to be done for the people who depended on him. He believed in showing up, keeping your word, and taking care of your own. He never looked for praise or expected anything in return.
His greatest legacy, however, was not measured by the work he did or the things he accomplished, but by the lives he touched, the friendships he built, and the love he gave so freely. Which we have been reminded of by everyone that has reached out to us.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, hard work, and quiet strength. His stories will continue to be told, His lessons will continue to be passed down, and his presence will be felt in the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Though he will be deeply missed, the things that made him who he was will live on in all of us. We will hear his voice when we continue his wise McGee-ism on, see him in the places he loved—especially Martin Ave, Sandy Ridge and the ELR tents —and remember him whenever we hear a chain saw buzzing, a bent reel, the click of a long-range target being hit, a diesel motor running and a turkey strutting. He taught us how to work hard, how to be patient, how to stand by the people we love, and how to give of ourselves without expecting anything in return.
Mike was a true Irish gentleman—a loving husband and father, a loyal friend, and a teacher who generously shared his knowledge and skills that covered many trades. He had a way of making a lasting impression on everyone he met, not only through what he taught, but through the way he lived, the stories he shared, and the loyalty and love he gave so freely. His love for his family and friends, his unforgettable McGee-isms, and the lessons he passed on will remain with us always.
“Continue to move forward! God Bless and Good Luck.” – Mike Jr.
