Michael J. McCarrie III, age 82, of Narberth, PA passed away on December 7, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 11, 1936 in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Michael J. and Margaret Theresa V. (Costello) McCarrie.
He is survived by his wife, Clare E. (Morton) McCarrie; his sons, Michael J. of Ardmore, PA (Ursula), David B. of New York, NY (Keri), his daughter, Clare E. Castro (Michael) of West Chester, PA, and his sister Mary (McCarrie) Majeski of Philadelphia, PA. He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine E. McCarrie. He has 4 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.
Michael graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia with a degree in Finance. He was an Air Force veteran, and served our country with honor from 1955 – 1959. After returning to civilian life, he worked at Philco/Ford from 1962 – 1970 where he met his wife, Clare, and they were married for 52 years. He continued his career as a Fiscal Control Officer for PennDOT, and retired in August 2002. He was an avid train enthusiast and traveled by train to all 48 contiguous states throughout his life. He also loved taking his dogs on long walks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 12th, 11:00 AM., at St. Margaret's Church, 208 N. Narberth Avenue, Narberth PA, 19072. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at the Church from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will be private.
