Obituary

Matthew Moesel Gutt of Narberth, PA died peacefully at home on February 10, 2021.  He was born in Rochester, NY on November 4, 1966. He was the son Alvin J. Gutt and Louisa M. Gutt (nee Moesel) who are deceased.  He was married to Louise (nee Heinze) for 22 years this past December.

He graduated from Saint Joseph's Prep in 1984, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988.  He was a member of the crew teams at both Saint Joseph's Prep and the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for Conrail for 8 years before entering Temple University's Beasley Law School.  While there he was on the law review and interned for the US Attorney's Office in Philadelphia and the 3 rd Circuit Court of Appeals for Judge Solviter.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1997.

After graduation he interned at the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia and devoted many hours to Pro Bono work for PILCOP. After working at Ballard, Spahr Law Firm he joined Exelon Business Services as Assistant General Counsel. Throughout his legal career Matt devoted a tremendous amount of volunteer time for the Homeless Advocacy Project, the Indigent Program and the Support Center for Child Advocates. He raised thousands of dollars for the Movember Foundation that supported prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's mental health research and awareness.

He was an alumni of Saint Margaret School and later served as the head of the school board.

Matt was a lover of all genres of music and film.  He was a kind and loving spouse and father. His family meant everything to him.

Matt is survived by his wife, Louise, son, Christopher Gutt, and daughter, Olivia Gutt. He is also survived by his sister,  Genevieve Saylor, brother, Erik Gutt and Erik's wife, Barbara, 4 nephews and 7 nieces, 9 great nephews and 4 great nieces.

Funeral services are private for the family.  For those who wish to participate virtually, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Monday February 15th at 10:30 AM on the St. Margaret Parish website www.saintmarg.org or on their facebook page www.facebook.com/stmargnarberth/
