Matthew John
Dotsey
February 8, 1973 – August 3, 2020
Matt "Dots" was a loving husband to his wife Katherine (Katie) for the past ten years. He was the best big brother to Dan (Sue) Dotsey, Rebekah (Gary) Lambdin, and Christian (Carlene) Dotsey. Matt was a doting Uncle to Caroline, Rian, Anthony (AJ), Sophia, Jack, Gavin, and Sebastian.
Matt was a Philadelphia school teacher at Potter Thomas Promise Academy, where he had been for the past seven years. In true Matt fashion, he could not pick an easy course to teach; he had to teach Math. He used many ways to communicate with his students, from sports analogies to video games. Over the years, he coached many basketball and baseball teams. He was always happy to see the look on a student or player's face when they finally understood how to solve a problem.
Matt's personality was a big as his heart. He would always be there to lend an ear or a hand, as many friends near and far can attest to.
Matt enjoyed all of the Philly sports teams and was looking forward to the Phillies season starting. In addition to watching the sports on television, you could find him at the events in person. There was nothing he enjoyed more than going to a game to get the bobblehead or two or three, that they were giving away. He was an avid sports collector as well. Matt and Katie would look forward to going to shows to meet players and swap stories with other collectors. Many friendships have formed from his collecting hobby.
He is now at peace; he is loved and will be missed by all.
