Mary Josephine Barker Gosa, 81 entered our lords grace February 21, 2007.
She was born March 22, 1925, in Gladwyne, Pa., the daughter of Cpt. Frank P. K. Barker DDS and Helen E. K. Barker. On August 5, 1950 she married Richard W. Gosa who preceded her in death on May 15 1976. Surviving are five children Helen E. Jones of Ardmore, OK; Richard W. Gosa Jr. of Bellefonte, PA; Margaret C. S. Holsinger of Port Matilda, PA; Samuel B. Gosa of Sunbury, PA and Georg F. Gosa of Boalsburg, PA. Additionally are twelve Grandchildren, and three Great-Grandchildren; two siblings; Lt. Col. Frank P. K. Barker of Gladwyne, PA and Patricia H. Barker-Patterson-Low of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Mrs. Gosa was an accomplished violinist performing with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra Phila., PA and with the Penn-State Symphony at University Park, PA. She pursued a modeling career from 1944 through 1960 modeling for William Rittase and Newfeld Model Agency, she was contender in the Miss Philadelphia pageant in 1949 and performed with her two siblings on radio and television. She was a member of the Lower Merion Historical Society and Swedish Historical Society. She was a graduate of Lower Merion High School and attended Convent of the Sacred Heart, studied Liturgical music and religious theory; attended Queens Conservatory, Philadelphia, Pa and the Fleisher Musical Academy in New York.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday February 26, 11:00 AM at St. John Vianney Church, Youngsford & Conshohocken State Rds., Gladwyne, PA. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Oddfellows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice, 207 C St. N.W., Ardmore, OK 73401.
