Obituary

Mary Catherine Clark (nee Groos), of Narberth, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 30, 2016 at Dunwoody Village in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. She was 85.

Daughter of the late Dr. Louis Peter Groos, M.D. and Frances (nee Peters) Groos R.N., Mary was born on June 21, 1931 in Escanaba, Michigan. She was a graduate of Escanaba High School and of The College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she received her nursing degree.

Mary was the beloved wife of James Joseph Clark. Devoted mother of James Louis (Mary Kay), Patrick (Barbara), Mary Frances Clark, Julia Broderick (Stephen) and Michael (Jennifer).  Loving grandmother of Christina (Timothy), James J., Shannon, Kelly, Daniel, Lauren, Stephen Jr., Sean, Christopher, Emily, Grant, Sara and M. Scott. Great-grandmother of Gwendolyn and Alexander.  Also survived by her brother John Groos and her sister Barbara Budinger.

A dedicated nurse, Mary worked for many years at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood. Mary lived a life dedicated to service. She cooked delicious meals for patients at St. John's Hospice in Philadelphia, helped the elderly during emergencies as a driver for HOPE, took blood pressure at St. Margaret's in Narberth, and counseled woman at the non-profit Birthright. She was an avid figure skater and she also enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Mary will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday January 4, 10:30 AM at  St. Margaret Church, 208 North Narberth Avenue, Narberth, Pennsylvania. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
