Marjorie Rita McGranahan, 73, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Philadelphia. Margie had been a resident at the Holy Family Nursing Home since she left her home in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania in 2005, where she had resided for over 60 years.

Margie went to grade school at Our Mother of Good Counsel School in Bryn Mawr and attended the Academy of Gwynedd Mercy High School where she graduated in 1958. She started her nursing aide career at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital where she worked for five years and then worked at Bryn Mawr Hospital for the next 42 years. She volunteered at McAuley Home in Merion while in the Holy Family Nursing Home.


Margie is survived by her brother Thomas McGranahan of Richmond Virginia, her sisters Sister Mary Thomas McGranahan , RSM and Sister Marguerite Marie McGranahan, RSM of Merion, PA , her sister in law Joan McGranahan of Ardmore, PA and her brother in law John Pallof of New London, CT. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Thomas McGranahan, her sister Margaret Casey, her brother John McGranahan and her twin sister Josephine Pallof.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, Pennswood Road and Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, PA on Saturday at 10 am. Friends may call at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA from 6 to 9 pm on Friday evening. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Sisters of Mercy, 515 Montgomery Ave, Merion, PA 19066 or Holy Family Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, 5300 Chester Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143.
