Marjorie Conole Hargrave, formerly of Bryn Mawr, PA., passed away on May 1, 2015 in Broomfield, CO. She was 80.
Marjorie was born on August 4, 1934 in Binghamton, NY to the late Clement Vincent and Marjorie Anable Conole.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara C. McElroy, Ardmore, PA, and Jacalyn C. Harman (John), Placentia, CA, her daughters, Laura Hargrave Spalart (Philippe) of Redmond, WA, Patricia Hargrave Vonick (Jim) of Boulder, CO, Marjorie Hargrave of Lafayette, CO, and Lee Evans Voltin (David) of Dallas, TX, six grandchildren, Casandra Evans, James Putnam, Alison Putnam, Brendan Vonick, Michelle Vonick, and Alexandra Hargrave, and two great-grandchildren, Siena Harrison and Trip Tarchalski. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother, Richard C. Conole (Sharyn).
Marjorie was a graduate of The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, and also of the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained an A.B. in Journalism. Her career included employment at The Baldwin School, Sun Company, Freedom Foundation, and Malvern Retreat House. She was a past-member of Philadelphia Country Club and Merion Cricket Club. For a large part of her life, she was an active participant in and enthusiastic spectator of squash, tennis, field hockey, and lacrosse. Her Catholic faith was her foundation and font of inspiration; she drew upon its teachings in raising her children and in the strong work ethic that she exemplified.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 8th at 10:00 am at Daylesford Abbey, 220 S. Valley Road, Paoli. Interment will follow at St. Christopher's Church, 226 Righters Mill Road, Gladwyne.
