Marilyn M.
Howley
April 20, 1938 – August 28, 2025
Marilyn M. Howley was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on April 20th, 1938, to Edward S. Murray Jr and Jeannette Josephine Quinlan. Along with her younger brother Edward III, they resided in Lower Merion, where she attended and graduated from Mater Misericordia (now Merion Mercy) Academy. She maintained lifelong friendships with many of her fellow MMA classmates. She attended Georgetown Visitation prior to her marriage to Judge Robert P. Johnson in 1957. She and Robert were the parents of two children, Robert Jr, married to Susan and currently residing in The Villages, Florida, and Kathleen, married to Anthony Gray, living in Collegeville.
In her early years, in addition to raising a young family, Lynn was a noted fashion consultant and model, working with several major Philadelphia firms such as Strawbridge & Clothier, Gimbels and Wanamaker's. At home she was always a gracious hostess, enjoying social interaction and celebration. Lynn was the definition of a true friend as she valued her close relationships and maintained them throughout her life.
One of Lynn's other rewarding experiences was as a caregiver, where she visited shut-in individuals, provided rides to doctor appointments, assisted with meals and helped out in any way possible. One of these missions resulted in her adopting a cat named Milou who lived to age 20 and a cockatiel named Wally who lived to the ripe age of 24.
Lynn was later married to William Worman, who passed away in 1985, and then to Walter N. Howley, who died in 2000.
Her later years were spent at her residence in Paoli, at the Mansion at Rosemont and for the last eight months with her daughter in Collegeville. While at the Mansion she was well loved for her outgoing personality and participation in play performances along with other activities.
Lynn was always impeccably attired with her signature chunky jewelry and designer fashions. Her makeup was flawless 24/7. Her outward beauty was matched by her deep Catholic Faith, her devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary and her caring and loving heart in the service of others. Despite numerous medical challenges later in life, Lynn continued to show an outgoing personality and strong spirit, never allowing anything to hold her back.
Lynn entered into eternal life on August 28th, 2025 at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital after a short illness. In addition to Robert and Kathleen, Lynn is survived by her grandson Andrew Gogola and his wife Kiara, granddaughter Jenya and husband Chris Berg and great-granddaughter Emery Rose Berg. They all loved their "Dee Dee" very much.
