Obituary

Marguerite Elaine Willauer Yannopoulos, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday November 15, 2008 at her residence at The Quadrangle in Haverford, PA. She was 83.

Daughter of the late William and Marguerite Willauer, she was born in Charleston, SC in 1925. She was a graduate of the College of Charleston. She received her Masters from The Boston Conservancy of Music. She was a principal soprano with the New York City Opera. She made her European debut in 1958 and performed at venues all over the world including La Scala in Milan, Italy. She travelled the world extensively with her late husband Konstantinos "Dino" Yannopoulos, a prominent stage director at the Metropolitan Opera and elsewhere. She was a member of the Union League of Philadelphia.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Burns of Long Beach, MS. and her grandson Blake Gendron.
