Lydia Darlene Wright passed away on October 7, 2024 with her family by her side. She was 72. She is survived by her son Lee, her daughter Indira, her grandson Matthew and a host of relatives and friends.

Lydia was born on August 20, 1952 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Jacob B. Wright Sr. and the late Ozella Garrett. She had a passion for learning, educating and giving back. Education was always a top priority in her life. Especially education for women. As a teacher for almost 40 years, she molded the minds of the youth and continuously went above and beyond for her students. Lydia never stopped acquiring knowledge, not even in her down time. She enjoyed reading, writing and watching the news. She also loved music. If Celine Dion or Boyz II Men was blasting through the speakers, you knew she was having a great day.

Lydia's commitment to providing for the less fortunate was awe-inspiring. She started a real estate company to house low income families. She also donated to countless charities each year. Even though Lydia has departed this life, the mark she made, the lives she touched, and the lessons she taught will live on forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation on Saturday October 12th, from 10 to 11 AM at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore PA 19003 .  Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Ardmore, PA.
