Obituary

Leonette "Leo" Johnson Knetzger of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and Warwick, Bermuda died on April 24th, 2013 at Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, PA after battling a myriad of health issues. She was 87.

Daughter of the late Hugh Haynes Johnson and Virginia Murner Johnson, Leo was born on June 27, 1925 in East Lansing, Michigan, attended Denison College and worked at the Betty Parsons Art Gallery in New York City, where she met the new wave of abstract expressionists. Leo was married to Edwin L. Knetzger Jr. of Webster Grove, MO for fifty-four wonderful years until Ed passed away in 2003. An avid reader, puzzle-solver, and toast-maker, Leo traveled the globe during her husband's business career and retirement.

Among the many blessings in her life, Leo's great pride and joy were her four children, thirteen grandchildren and her one great-grandchild (Neve Welch), who was with her when she passed. She is survived by her brother Haynes Johnson of Atlanta; daughter Louise of Ardmore, PA; son Ted of Moss Beach, CA; son Hugh of Greenwich, CT and daughter Ginny of Newtown Square.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass Friday May 3, 11 AM at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Rd., Gladwyne. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 701 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19123 or to the Philadelphia Zoo, 3400 W. Girard Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
