On Sunday, September 19, 2021, Kenneth Ray Wilson was called home to heaven while surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Ken was born on June 8, 1956, in Washington, DC, to Charles Wilson and Helen (Ray) Wilson. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Nuclear Engineering in 1977 and worked in the field of nuclear power for his entire career. He married Jean Ann Shuman on June 11, 1977, and was the father of two daughters, Rachelle and Kendra.
Ken spent much of his life in Gainesville, FL. He was a life-long fan of the Florida Gators, traveling with his wife to football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball games all over the country, even after he relocated to southern California in 2013. Over the past year, he and his wife lived in California, New York, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania, where he had just taken a new job.
He was a faithful member of several churches during his lifetime, including North Central Baptist and Westside Baptist in Gainesville, FL. He served as a deacon and on various committees, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and participated in numerous Christmas and Easter pageants and plays.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother, Helen, and his sister Sherry. He is survived by his wife Jean, his two daughters, Rachelle and Kendra, his brother Doug (Elaine), and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A memorial picnic will be held in Gainesville, FL on October 9, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Veterans Memorial Park: 7400 SW 41 Pl, Gainesville, FL 32608. In lieu of flowers, please keep the family in your prayers and spend some time with those you love.
