Katharine Reamer Dooley of Ardmore died on August 15, 2008 at The Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was 96
She was born January 10, 1912 in Greensburg, PA., daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Reamer. Her brother Jack, an Army Air Force Lieutenant was lost in action in July 1943 on a flight in the China-India-Burma Theater.
She graduated from Seton Hill College in Greensburg in 1934 with a bachelor's degree in home economics.
In 1935 she interned as a dietitian at Montefiore Hospital in New York City. She worked as a hospital dietitian in Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
In 1938 Katharine married James J. Dooley, a Bryn Mawr Hospital accountant. He died in 1988.
She returned to work in 1954 when her children were older as a school dietitian at Shoemaker Junior High School in the School District of Philadelphia. She retired in 1974.
Katharine loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
She was an excellent cook and an avid reader of books of all types. Her pastimes included traveling, sewing, watching song birds and caring for her house plants and flower garden.
She is survived by her children, James J., Jr., Frank (Judy), Jack, Ruth Egan (Tony) and Katharine Coyle (John). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday August 23, at St. Colman Church, Lancaster Ave. & Argyle Rd., Ardmore. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 9 AM. Interment will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Colman Church Parish, 11 Simpson Rd., Ardmore PA 19003.
