Obituary

Juliann Thompson Hoffmann, 91, of Wayne, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024. Her beloved husband, William H. Hoffmann, passed away shortly after on April 27.

Julie was born on September 2, 1932, in New Castle, Indiana, the daughter of Ladonia and Layton Thompson. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion.

After graduating with a B.S. in Home Economics and a major in Interior Design and Architecture from Purdue University, where she was also a
member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, Julie began her career at National Homes Corporation in Indianapolis, designing modular home interiors.

In 1956, Julie married Bill Hoffmann. They built a loving life together, raising two children, Ann Elise and William H. (Bill). They resided in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, until 1985, when they moved to Wayne. Julie actively contributed to her communities and continued her interest in interior design working at several different local design shops. She also got her Real Estate License and helped buyers with decorating and design ideas. In Pittsburgh, she served as President of both the Linden Garden Club and the Women's Board at Kingsley House. She was also involved with Social Service Board Projects for Presbyterian University Hospital and Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. Upon moving to Wayne, she was active at Bryn Mawr and Wayne Presbyterian Churches and became a strong advocate for Baker Industries. Beyond her family and community service, Julie nurtured a passion for gardening, golf, and painting.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Ann Scully (Tom Scully) and Bill Hoffmann (Jodi Hoffmann); grandchildren, Sarah (Scully) Vaughn (Taylor Vaughn), Julia (Scully) Carroll (Chad Carroll), Alexa Scully, Will Hoffmann III (Ada Peters), and Charlie Hoffmann; and great-grandson, Carter Vaughn.

The family will celebrate Julie & William's lives at a small service on Friday May 10, 11 AM at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Lancaster Ave. Wayne PA 19097.  Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baker Industries , 184 Pennsylvania Ave., Malvern, PA 19335. www.bakerindustries.org
