Joseph Francis
Demichele
July 19, 1928 – April 23, 2023
Joseph F. DeMichele, M.D., 94, of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 23, 2023.
He was born on July 19, 1928, to Andrew and Antoinette (Toscano) DeMichele. He graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Boys and received his undergraduate and dental school degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to graduate from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, and had a long career as a beloved general surgeon at Methodist and St. Agnes Hospitals in South Philadelphia. While he raised his family on the Main Line, he forever proudly identified with his South Philly roots, from his boyhood days harboring a tool to open neighborhood fire hydrants in the summer, to the many happy years he cherished taking care of his patients. He loved his work passionately, but his greatest joy was his family, particularly his ten grandchildren, whose lives he shared intimately and relished to the end.
He is survived by his loving wife, Regina (Kinsinger), who was by his side for 63 years. His children and their families mourn the loss of their father and doting Pop Pop: his son, Joseph, and wife, Christie, and their children, Leo and Zoe; his daughter, Annette, and husband, Jonathan, and their children, David and Nicholas; his son, Andrew, and wife, Sarah, and their children, Andrew and William; his son, Robert, and wife, Stacey, and their children, Alexandra and Mikayla; and his son, Anthony, and wife, Cheryl, and their children, Amber and Anthony. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Richard, and will be missed by his sister-in-law, Joyce, and his nephews, Richard and Gregory, and their families.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Waverly Heights in Gladwyne for the excellent care they provided over the last six months. Services will be private.
