Joseph DeBona

Joseph DeBona of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 11, 2026. He was 86.

Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Joseph DeBona and Catherine DeBona (née McAllister). Mr. DeBona served honorably in the United States Army Corps of Engineers and later dedicated his career to the Lower Merion Police Department. Throughout his life, he held three primary passions: his family, his service in law enforcement, and golf. He was an enthusiastic target shooter and enjoyed listening to Andre Bocelli and dining at the Lobster House in Cape May.

He is survived by his family, including his wife of 63 years, Mary; his children, Joseph DeBona Jr. and Patricia Moak (David); his grandchildren, Ashley, Jefferson, and Maximilian; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. DeBona was known for his kindness and friendship to all, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Funeral services and interment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lower Merion Township Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 28.
