John W. Van Zandt Jr., age 39, of Ardmore, died on August 7, 2006 of complications from juvenile diabetes at Cooper Hospital, Camden, N.J.
John was reared in Bala Cynwyd and was a graduate of Waldron Academy, class of 1981, and The Haverford School, class of 1985. A lifelong lover of music, he studied for a career in music therapy at Temple University and Immaculata University. He combined his contemporary music with his passion for videography and showed his work in Philadelphia galleries. John had a quick wit and personified a man who marched to the beat of his own drum. He had a deep appreciation for mother earth and loved being in the outdoors hiking, camping and kayaking, particularly in the Jersey Pine Barrens.
John is survived by his parents, Jack and Geri Van Zandt, and his brothers, Chris and Jeff.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, Pennswood Rd. and Lancaster Ave. (Rte. 30), Bryn Mawr on Fri., Aug. 11 between 6 and 7:30 p.m. followed immediately by a funeral service. Interment will be private.
