John F. Noone, 94, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Bryn
Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr. Mr. Noone was the loving husband of Dolores
(Murphy) Noone, to whom he was devotedly married for over 52 years until her
passing in 2010.
Born on June 19, 1923 in Lost Creek, Mr. Noone was the son of the late
William J. and Elizabeth (Higgins) Noone. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High
School in Girardville. Mr. Noone served his country during WWII as a Ski Trooper in
the 10th Mountain Division. Following the war, he began his career in the insurance
industry and retired for the first time in June 1988 as the Senior Vice
President/Director of Claims for Selective Insurance Company of America. For his
second career, Mr. Noone started an insurance management consulting company of
which he remained President until his second retirement in May 2001. Additionally,
he was a past President of the Pennsylvania Claims Association.
Mr. & Mrs. Noone raised their family in Lancaster, PA and Newton, NJ. In May
2001, they moved to Waverly Heights in Gladwyne to be near their family. Mr.
Noone is survived by his daughter, Carolyn P. Noone and her husband, Stephen R.
Horner, of Wayne; son, John F. Noone and his wife, Eva Kay Noone, of Bryn Mawr;
four grandchildren, Allison M. Horner, Katie R. Horner, Trevor X. Noone, and Grace
M. Noone; sister, Cathleen Snyder; and sister-in-law, Anne M. Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:30
a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Road, Gladwyne, PA with
Rev. Msgr. Donald E. Leighton, M.A. as celebrant. Family will be receiving friends at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be private.
