John A. McKenna died peacefully at home in Wynnewood, PA. on January 16, 2011 at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his wife of 63 years, Mitzi (Stoudt) McKenna and their large extended family. Both John and Mitzi grew up in Narberth, Pa. and went to school in and around that borough. After marrying they raised 8 children, living first in Narberth and later moving to Bala Cynwyd. In 2005 they moved to Wynnewood.

John spent his career in sales. He worked for B.T. Babbit Company, Colgate-Palmolive Company and later for Mobil Chemical Company. In his positions in sales management he traveled extensively and established deep and lasting relationships with a broad network of brokers, wholesalers and independent store owners, many of whom became his lifelong friends

John was an active member of St. Matthias Church for over 60 years. Most of his children attended St. Matthias School. John was always supportive and often personally involved in all types of church and school events. The community of families, friends and clerics of the St. Matthias community were important and dear to him.

John and Mitzi have provided their children with a strong foundation of faith, service, tolerance and commitment as a lasting legacy. John will be missed as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend and parish member.

He was the devoted father of Maureen M. Sexton (Hank), John A., Jr. (Mary), Charles E. (Kathy), Stephen P. (Patty), Meg, Peter M. (Nancy), David L. and Paula M. Axtell. Loving grandfather of Chris, Andrea, John A., III., Michael, Bridget, Matthew, Kelley, Katherine, Shannon, Abigail, Audrey, McKenna, Samantha and the late Carolyn and Jessica. Great-grandfather of Claire, Riley and Taylor.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Friday January 21 from 8:30 to 10:15 AM with Funeral Mass to commence at 10:30 AM at St. Matthias Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA. Interment is in Valley Forge Gardens, King of Prussia, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthias Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
