Joan Patricia (Moore) McGowan passed away on January 6, 2022 at The Landing @ Collegeville.  She was 92.

Joan was born on August 24, 1929 in Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.  She was the daughter of Julia (Walsh) and Thomas Moore and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, in St. Jerome Parish, where she received the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. She attended the St. Jerome School and graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in the class of 1947. She worked as a secretary at several advertising agencies and other businesses in Manhattan before marrying Joseph P. McGowan, son of Andrew J. and Helen (Heaton) McGowan of Providence, Rhode Island, at Our Lady of Refuge Church, Brooklyn, on August 29, 1964, and moving to the Philadelphia area where Joseph McGowan was a professor of English at Villanova University. In Philadelphia, she worked for many years as a secretary and paralegal at a number of law firms.

She is survived by her four children Joseph, John (Leila), James, and Catherine, sisters-in-law Marita McGowan and Jean McGowan, brother-in-law John McGowan, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph (1930-1989).

Relatives and friends are invited on Wednesday January 12th to a Visitation from 10 to 11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster & Aberdeen Aves., Wayne, PA. Interment will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
