Joan Christine Connolly Flick, 84, of Bryn Mawr, PA., passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William Ortlieb Flick, whom she adored.  Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Aloysius Connolly and Mary Christine (O'Melia) Connolly.  She is predeceased by her brothers, Vincent John Connolly, and Thomas Joseph Connolly.

A graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, located in Flourtown, PA, Joan then went on to graduate in 1963 from Villanova University with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. She was in the fifth class of nurses (now called the Villanova Fitzpatrick College of Nursing). There were 17 women in her class and she was one of the 11 who graduated. She was a registered nurse who worked at a variety of hospitals including Lehigh Valley Hospital, Brandywine Hospital, Allentown Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital, Norristown State Hospital in Pennsylvania, and Anne Arundel Hospital in Maryland. When natural disasters or major floods happened, she would be one of the first nurses to pack a bag and volunteer to assist where needed.

In addition to her career in nursing, Joan would frequently volunteer to provide private-duty nursing to friends and family members when needed. Upon her retirement, she volunteered with Wissahickon Hospice.  When not working, Joan typically attended daily Mass at St. Anne's when she lived in Emmaus, PA, or at St. Elizabeth's when she lived in Chester Springs, PA. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed sailing and traveling together.  She also loved and was loved by her children's dogs: Pete, Suzie, Libby, and Kelce.

Survivors: Her daughter, Mary-Helene (Flick) Taylor and her husband James Taylor, and her son, William Ortlieb Flick, Jr., and his wife, Leslie (Weber) Flick.  Her grandchildren: Will Flick, Nina Flick, Charlie Flick, and Maximilian Flick.

Relatives and friends are invited on Friday April 26th, Visitation from 9 to 10 AM with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Rosemont Chapel, 1229 E. Lancaster Ave., Rosemont, PA.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
