Janet Marie Clarke of Villanova, PA and St. Barth's, formerly of Devon, PA. passed away on April 14, 2009 at her residence. She was 68.
Daughter of the late John and Dorothy O'Connell Mailey, she was born in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1940. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Cabrini College.
Janet was an active member of St. Thomas of Villanova Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister from many years. She served on the board of the Christopher Robert Clarke Foundation which was founded in memory of her beloved son who was killed in the World Trade Center attack in New York on September 11, 2001. Her philanthropic spirit supported numerous organizations including Project HOME, St. Joe's Prep, Rosemont School of the Holy Child, St. Malachy's, M.B.F. Foundation and St. Francis De Sales to name a few. Janet enjoyed traveling to St. Barth's with her family, organizing family gatherings and opening her home to friends and strangers which brought her great joy and personal fulfillment. Known by all as "Dolly", which her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as, she created wonderful memories for all.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank R. Clarke. Devoted mother of Kelly Clarke, Tim Clarke, Katie Clarke, Tricia Scudder, Tracey Osborne and the late Christopher Robert Clarke. Loving grandmother of Tyler Lam, Emma, Timmy and Matthew Scudder and Tessa Osborne. She is also survived by her sister Louise Ritti (Ed) and her loving companion Devon.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday April 16, 10:30 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Church (Univ. Campus), Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 9:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
