Jacquelyn A.
Diottavio
March 14, 1942 – September 26, 2024
Jacquelyn "Jackie" A. DiOttavio (nee Ohlandt), of Malvern and Ocean City, NJ, formerly of Gladwyne, PA, passed away surrounded by loving family on September 26, 2024. She was 82.
Daughter of the late Harry and Cecilia (nee O'Connor) Ohlandt, the sister of the late Connie Morisco (nee Ohlandt), she is survived by brother-in-law Carmine Morisco and sister-in-law Margie Friedman (nee DiOttavio). Jacquelyn was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 14, 1942.
In her youth, growing up in Jersey City, New Jersey, Jackie was spirited and driven. Captain of the Union High cheerleading team, Jackie was known for her beauty, social acumen, school involvement and contagious laugh. Crowned "Miss North Jersey" in 1959 Jackie went on to earn
her nursing degree. Her life of doing for others was in full swing.
A selfless and dedicated mother and grandmother, Jackie thought of others before herself. Her homes in Gladwyne and Ocean City were perpetually and graciously open to friends and family alike. Everyone was welcomed to dinner at Jackie's home. She enjoyed cooking for others, often starting to cook dinner before lunch was over. Preparing stellar food in abundance, her hallmark DiOttavio Secret Gravy and meatballs were a crowd favorite. Nobody left Jackie's house hungry, but they did leave with leftovers.
A devoted grandmother, Jackie loved attending any and all events her grandchildren participated in. From theatrical performances to sporting events, "Memom" was a beloved and consistent figure in the stands. A blanket and stadium seat in hand, Memom would brave the elements and drive the extra mile for her grandchildren. She would arrive early, sometimes very early, to ensure she didn't miss a thing. Her support and involvement with her grandchildren was undoubtedly the most important and valuable part of her life.
Jackie loved gathering with her tennis group travel buddies, and bible study crew over the years. Her friends meant the world to her. In her later years, Jackie moved to Echo Lake, quickly immersing herself into the rich and vibrant community. At Echo Lake, she reveled in the comradery found in sharing laughter and food with her friends. Her social and activity calendar was richly adorned with everything from chorus and ukulele to exercise and rosary club. The friendships she made at Echo Lake were tremendously important to her.
Jacquelyn was the wife of the late Anthony "Bud" DiOttavio. Loving mother of Jacquelyn D. Greytok (Jay), Linda D. Murray (Jim) and Antonia "Toni" D. Mullen (Andy). Beloved "Memom" of Stephanie & Lauren Thomas; Courtney O'Connor (Mike); Allison, Erin & J.P. Murray; and Drew,
Jake & Maggie Mullen.
