Obituary

Jacqueline J. Roddy passed away on December 7, 2016 at her residence in Wyomissing, PA. She was 76.

Daughter of the late John J. Roddy, Jr. and Alice V. Tobin Roddy of Philadelphia, PA, she was born on September 2, 1940 in Yeadon, PA. Jacqueline was a retired consultant in philanthropy. She received her classical baccalaureate degree from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO.

For five years, she worked for the Philadelphia brokerage firm, Harry C. Dackerman & Co., Inc., and then entered the field of public relations and development. She joined Cabrini College, Radnor, PA., as Assistant to the President and moved into positions as Director of Public Relations and Vice President for Development. She received the College's first Honorary Alumnus Award.

Jacqueline was invited to return to her alma mater, Saint Louis University, to serve as Director of Corporate Support in the University's Development Office. Between 1978 and 1990, she was engaged in three major capital campaings raising $152 million on behalf of the University's eleven schools and colleges, including the School of Medicine, School of Law, and Parks College (School of Aviation and Aerospace).

She returned to Pennsylvania in 1990 and began consulting for a number of private colleges, universities, operating foundations and major health care and research organizations. She specialized in turn-around and transition situations, interim appointments and resident consultancies. She also consulted occasionally for Brakeley, John Price Jones Inc. (Stamford, CT) and MacIntyre Associates (Kennett Square, PA.).

Jacqueline is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Anderson (Lt. Col. L.H. Anderson, USMC, Ret.) of Carlsbad, CA and Patricia Hoepfl (Robert T.) of Anderson, SC. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Benedict Roddy.

Funeral Mass and interment were held in December at St. Denis Church and Cemetery, Havertown, PA.
